Christopher H. Little - Christopher Little has a distinguished record within the New England legal community. Over the past 25 years he has been at the forefront of construction, commercial, and environmental law in the region. He practices extensively in complex commercial litigation and primarily represents owners and contractors in public and private construction projects.

 

Matthew F. Medeiros - Matthew Medeiros has over 37 years of experience in complex litigation throughout the country, including antitrust, securities, employment discrimination, contract, fraud and partnership and shareholder litigation. Matt has represented plaintiffs and defendants, in hundreds of lawsuits, involving literally billions of dollars of damages claims. He has a reputation for exhaustive trial preparation in complex litigation, particularly jury trials. He frequently is the attorney of choice for other lawyers and law firms needing representation in sophisticated commercial disputes. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America from its inception and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

 

Daniel K. Kinder - Daniel Kinder has served as lead counsel for management in some of the most well-known labor and employment conflicts throughout the New England Region. He has litigated and arbitrated a wide array of cases pertaining to employment discrimination, wage-hour, ERISA, plant closing, unfair labor practices and unfair competition, among others.

He represents a cross section of employers, large and small, local, regional, national and multi-national, in all sectors and is experienced in representing both unionized and nonunion employers.

Among Mr. Kinder's clients are some of the region's top employers, including Brown & Sharpe, Inc., Care New England, Clariant Corporation, Scapa Group, PLC, Southeastern New England Shipbuilding Co. Mr. Bulman has twenty-four years experience in commercial and construction trial matters in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and other states. For several years, he has been recognized by numerous client guides as one of the region’s leading construction and litigation practitioners. This recognition was confirmed by Mr. Bulman’s election to the American College of Construction Lawyers in 2006.

Mr. Bulman has represented both private and public clients in jury and non-jury trials and in arbitration and mediation proceedings in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Ohio and other states. Christopher C. Whitney - Christopher Whitney is involved in most of the cutting-edge legal issues affecting the construction industry in the New England Region. John D. Deacon, Jr. - John Deacon began his career in civil litigation in 1977 as an associate at the firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in San Francisco. In 1978, he moved to Rhode Island and joined the firm of Edwards & Angell, becoming a partner in 1985. Thereafter, John joined Flanders + Medeiros, a commercial litigation firm founded two years earlier by former litigation partners of Edwards & Angell. He joined LMKBW in October 2000.

Over a period of 27 years, John has handled all types of civil litigation, representing plaintiffs and defendants, individuals and corporations of all sizes in trials and appeals in state and federal courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as arbitrations. He has tried more than 45 court cases to judgment.

 

Scott K. Pomeroy - Scott Pomeroy's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts as well as litigation arising out of construction project disputes. He has represented businesses and individuals in cases involving contractual and fiduciary breaches, unfair trade practices, employment discrimination, CERCLA indemnification and contribution claims, professional negligence, trademark and patent infringement, as well as various tax, regulatory, and zoning issues.

In addition, Mr. Pomeroy has also represented owners, contractors, and design professionals in litigation concerning a variety of public and private construction projects. He has experience in cases dealing with design-build issues, Miller Act claims, challenges to union-only project labor agreements, and the enforcement of mechanics' liens.

Laura J. Bottaro - Laura Bottaro’s practice emphasizes complex litigation in the areas of commercial, construction, and environmental law.  She also provides strategic counseling to her clients as outside counsel.   At LMKBW, she represents construction owners, corporations, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and individuals in all phases of litigation.  Laura joined LMKBW after five years practicing law at Hill & Robbins, P.C., a highly-rated complex litigation firm in Denver, Colorado.  There, she handled multi-party actions in state and federal court, including class actions and environmental matters.  Prior to law school, she was a management consultant to high-level executives providing strategic planning and workforce productivity training.

 

Michael D. Williams - Michael Williams concentrates his practice in all facets of construction law, from litigation to contract drafting.  He has represented and advised owners, contractors, and design professionals across a wide assortment of matters, and is committed to achieving the best possible results for his client.  Beyond construction law, his experience includes the successful resolution of disputes involving intellectual property, consumer protection, bankruptcy, environmental law, entertainment law, landlord / tenant, eminent domain, and zoning issues.       Mr. Williams joined LMKBW in April of 2006, and is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from Boston College in 1998, and his juris doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in 2002.

 

R. Thomas Dunn - R. Thomas Dunn concentrates his practice in construction and business litigation. Tom joined LMKBW in March of 2007. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University in 2000, and his juris doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2004. A member of the California Bar since 2004, Tom was recently admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

 

Justin S. DuClos - Justin DuClos’ practice focuses on litigation and compliance advices. He has been a part of litigation teams handling an array of cases in both federal and state courts across the country, including involvement in environmental actions by natural resource proxies; multi-billion dollar Hurricane Katrina related complex levee, canal, dredging, and environmental actions; legislative succession of a state emergency school district to parish school board property and proceeds for losses caused by Hurricane Katrina; successful summary judgment concerning an extensive bulk carrier, cargo, officer, and crew casualty in the North Atlantic; multi-million dollar oil and gas joint venture action regarding the valuation of an ongoing operational error vis-à-vis a bankruptcy auction of venture interests; successful defense of international law firm malpractice action before the Louisiana Supreme Court; and successful summary disposition of federal administrative and regulatory compliance action against retrocessionaire under a primary federal workers’ compensation scheme.

 

Michael W. Carroll - Michael Carroll is a professional trial lawyer with more than 16 years of trial and appellate experience in the state and federal courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His clients have included leading businesses, manufacturers, health insurers, hospitals, automobile dealers and a variety of other institutions and individuals.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, Michael received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law. At BU Law, he held the office of President of the Inns of Court Student Committee and was a founding member of the Boston Inn of Court, an institution dedicated to improving the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar. As a student attorney in the Civil Practice Program, Michael represented and counseled indigent clients and appeared before the Boston Housing Court.

 

Sara A. Rapport - Sara Rapport brings experience from a dynamic and diverse legal career to LMKBW. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1987, where she was an editor of the Law Review, she clerked at the United States Court of Appeals. Thereafter she served as a federal defender in California before returning to Rhode Island, where she was an associate and then partner at Perkins, Smith & Cohen. As a litigation attorney, Sara’s courtroom experience involved civil employment matters and criminal defense.

 

Thomas M. Madden - Following his graduation from Northwestern University School of Law in 1989, Tom Madden began his legal career in business and corporate law in New York City with the law firm of Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine, a corporate practice group. Prior to returning to Rhode Island, Tom was associated with the New York law office of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, the third largest law firm in the world. While in New York, Tom also earned an M.A. in Politics from NYU.
