Experience

Matt has nearly 40 years of experience in business dispute resolution throughout the country, including antitrust, securities, employment discrimination, contract, fraud and partnership and shareholder litigation. Matt has represented plaintiffs and defendants, in hundreds of lawsuits, involving literally billions of dollars of damages claims. He has a reputation for exhaustive trial preparation in complex litigation, particularly jury trials. He frequently is the attorney of choice for other lawyers and law firms needing representation in sophisticated commercial disputes. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America from its inception and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Matt is a graduate of Brown University and New York University School of Law, where he was an Editor of the Law Review. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Civil Procedure and Federal Trial Practice.

Matt began his career as a law clerk for Chief Judge Raymond J. Pettine of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Thereafter he was associated with Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. before returning to his native Rhode Island and joining Edwards & Angell in 1977 as a partner. He left in 1987 to found Flanders + Medeiros, one of the region's most prominent commercial litigation firms. He joined Little Medeiros Kinder Bulman & Whitney in October 2000.

He has represented such major corporations as Sony, Lockheed, IBM, Metropolitan Life, Merrill Lynch, National Grid, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, the National Football League and Citadel Communications.
